Aleš earned his PhD In 2008, at Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Hradec Králové with a thesis entitled "Apoptosis and proliferation of tumor cell lines after radiation and drug treatment." Since then, dedicated to cell signaling, he systematically addresses the molecular mechanisms of DNA damage in relation to the effects of ionizing radiation. His knowledge is applied in radio-sensitization of tumor cell via specific inhibition of signaling pathways and to biological dosimetry. He employs both conventional immuno-detection techniques of molecular biology and modern approach of mass spectrometry together with quantitative phosphoproteomics. In 2013 he defended his work "Repair of radiation damage and its importance in radio-sensitization of the cancer cells." and was appointed Associated professor.
