Our group closely cooperates with clinical and interdisciplinary departments of the University Hospital Hradec Kralove on joint projects. Using proteomics, we investigate qualitative as well as quantitative changes, which occur due to given pathologic processes. Currently, the majority of projects is focused on identifying novel potential markers, which enable timely recognition of an ongoing disease. We are however focusing also on other fields of research, i.e. evaluation of therapy or drug effect at protein level for better understanding of the mechanism a particular medication works. This knowledge could help identify patients who could benefit from a given treatment strategy. Our group has the know-how as well as the resources to perform explorative proteomic analyses and detect “new” changes, as well as to verify these findings using complementary approaches in a larger group. Beside the clinically-related research, we focus on development of novel proteomic techniques and their subsequent application into ongoing projects.
