Tuberculosis (TB) is infectious disorder caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains. According to WHO data from 2018, TB is ranked as top-leading infectious disease counting more than 10 million new cases each year with estimated 1.6 million fatalities. The aim of this working group is to develop new antitubercular agents and to draw structure-activity relationship in novel classes of drugs with antitubercular activity.

Working group performs:

  • In silico studies for newly designed molecules with potential antitubercular effect specifically targeting enzymes in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains
  • Applying different methods in the development of novel antitubercular agents – hit-to-lead, phenotypic screening, scaffold morphing/hopping etc.
  • Structure-activity relationship studies
