The department provides a full range of top--level cardiovascular care in seven specialized departments. Outstanding care is provided by an intensive care unit with 20 beds. A wide range of care is provided at standard departments (2 × 30 beds) and at the angiology department (9 beds). There are also a number of specialized outpatient and consultation centers providing highly specialized cardiology and angiology consulting services.
The catheterization department provides continuous care to patients with acute heart diseases (predominantly acute coronary syndrome), performs all coronary procedures including implantation of stents, intracoronary ultrasound, optical coherence tomography, virtual histology, coronary reserve measurement, coronary rotablation, and also serves as a training site for interventional cardiologists from across the country. Mechanical circulation support systems are available and offer a complete program for treating structural heart diseases, including procedures such as catheterizing implantation of heart valves, valvuloplasts, closures of intradermal defects, and catheter valve implantation.
The Department of Electrophysiology and Cardiostimulation performs comprehensive diagnoses and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, resynchronization treatment of heart failure, implantation of cardioverter defibrillators, mapping and ablation treatment of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, including flutter and atrial fibrillation.
The Department of Non-Invasive Cardiology provides a complete spectrum of ultrasound examinations of heart and blood vessels, functional stress tests, diagnosis syncope, and long-term EKG monitoring.
The department provides undergraduate and graduate courses and participates in research projects. It represents the basis of the Academic Department of Cardiology and Angiology at the Faculty of Medicine and has accreditation for graduate education in the field of cardiology and angiology.
