Workers in social health help patients and their close relatives cope with the negative social consequences of the illness. The department provides social counseling and health-social care to patients from both outpatient sections and inpatient wards. Social care is carried out in cooperation with healthcare professionals, with patients and their families, and in cooperation with relevant authorities and healthcare facilities.
The department provides social legal advice on social benefits, information on early care facilities, possibilities for assisting the chronically ill, and assistance in mediating social services. The department can also provide homecare nursing services or bedside aftercare services as well as lend out compensatory aids. The staff assist victims of crime or domestic violence, abused or neglected patients treated in University Hospital Hradec Králové, mothers in need or those who have decided to entrust a child to foster care, abandoned or otherwise disadvantaged children, hospitalized foreigners, and resocialization of patients with a psychiatric diagnosis. As part of the prevention of socially pathological phenomena, the department cooperates with asylum facilities and the social clothing donation bin deals with the authorities and institutions in the interest of the patient.
