The department is a workplace that applies acute rehabilitation programs to patients referred by the University Hospital Hradec Králové. The clinic seeks to reduce the amount of time patients need for rehabilitation, to restore patient autonomy, and to help patients cope with the demands of returning to daily life and the home environment.
Successful operations are a key for quality and professional rehabilitation, thus rehabilitation programs often follow hospitalization at the departments of surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery and neurology. The treatment plan is based on a physician‘s examination and an analysis of the affected functions. Modern therapies, such as robot-assisted movement therapy, physical therapy and hydrotherapy are used in the overall program. The acute therapeutic rehabilitation of the nervous system is part of the cerebrovascular program in the CR. Therefore, acute rehabilitation uses a team specifically formed for the therapy (a physician, a physiotherapist, an ergotherapist, a clinical psychologist, a clinical speech therapist, nursing staff, a social worker, the patient, and family members). Our department is one of the few workplaces in the CR providing comprehensive care for patients following limb amputations. Patients are taught proper care of the amputated limb and are trained in the proper use of prostheses and other such aids and devices.
The outpatient section provides physical therapy and hydrotherapy, including the assessment of the functional working potential with a view to the patient eventually being able to return to work. Specialized care is provided in the field of early rehabilitation of the hand and includes dynamic plating, complex therapy of lymphedema, and the treatment of patients with painful conditions of the motor system. Outpatient rehabilitation of children is also provided.
