The department provides comprehensive care for the mentally ill and is comprised of three departments with a total of 60 beds, specialized counselling centers for psychotic disorders, affective disorders, and sleep disorders, pediatric and adolescent outpatient sections. Outpatient treatment for addictive diseases is also provided. Another part of the department is a day center for patients with anxiety disorders. There is also a treatment center for addictive diseases at a separate location (Nechanice). This separate facility has a 56-bed capacity and serves to provide follow-up care for patients treated for withdrawal.
The department treats both men and women and provides care for acute psychotic patients in a pleasant and low-restrictive environment. The clinical care focuses on the optimization of psychopharmacological treatment, including psychotherapeutic care and psychoeducation. An effective program of addiction treatment is also offered. The new building where the department is located offers exceedingly comfortable accommodation in regards to psychiatric treatment in the CR, with extensive space for therapy and rehabilitation of patients. In addition, the department has at its disposal modern facilities for teaching students from the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové. The department cooperates with community rehabilitation facilities in Hradec Králové, with the Center for Mental Health, and the civic associations Mental Health Care and Soutok, an association for parents of the mentally ill. The department’s research focuses on psychopharmacology, cognitive impairment, and the neurobiology of psychoses.
