The department provides long-term care and care for the staff of the hospital and a number of other contracting companies. It also provides diagnosis and assessment of occupational diseases, their treatment, and follow-up monitoring. It also takes care of citizens travelling privately or professionally to high-risk areas abroad, including the provision of any necessary vaccination and medicine prescriptions. The department is responsible for the recognition of occupational diseases for the Hradec Králové Region under Act No. 373/2011 on specific health services.
The research activity is focused on the problems of pneumoconiosis, professional allergic diseases of the respiratory tract, and diseases of the upper limbs resulting from vibrations and overloading. The department is an accredited workplace for specialized education of doctors in the field of occupational medicine and general practical medicine for adults.
