The department provides specialized institutional and outpatient neurological care for children and adults in the Hradec Králové Region, including intensive neurological care for adults. In addition to a general outpatient section for the regional area, there are specialized centers and consulting centers, for example the Comprehensive Cerebrovascular Center, Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Demyelinating Diseases (MS Center), Center for Sleep Disorders and Biorhythms, Center for the Treatment of Spasticity, consultations for neurosurgery and polyneuropathy, consultations for extrapyramidal diseases, and consultations for headache sufferers.
The Comprehensive Cerebrovascular Center coordinates and assures the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases using the latest imaging diagnostic methods and therapeutic procedures not only for citizens of the Hradec Králové Region but also for the Pardubice Region.
The department is located in pavilion No. 8 in the main area of University Hospital Hradec Králové and has 6 ICU beds, 16 beds in the ictal section, 21 beds for general neurology and 15 beds for pediatric neurology. The outpatient section consists of a 16-bed daily care unit and the neuro-electrophysiological section, which includes the EEG, EMG, EP, OCT laboratories.
We provide undergraduate teaching of Czech and foreign students and graduate teaching of Czech students, as well as teaching of nursing and physiotherapy specialists.
The department is involved in a wide range of international multicenter studies, grants and research activities. Staff members take part in the organization of professional neurological events and are actively involved in the activities of professional societies not only at the national level but in Europe as a whole.
