The department is designed as an acute care, barrier-free ward for adults. It is organized into the section of acute emergency, observational beds and the crash room. Two rescue teams work within the department – a trauma team for injured patients without any age limitation and a resuscitation team for adults with non-traumatic health condition.
About 47,000 patients are treated at the department every year and 78% are completely attended to within two hours of arrival. The care for patients is strictly specialized according to the relevant medical branch. The department provides initial care for patients in highly specialized care centers – trauma center, complex cerebrovascular center and cardiac center. Throughout its existence, the department has clearly shown the advantages of having centralized urgent medical care. The scope of care and number of treated patients demonstrate the unique and top-notch character of this workplace within the CR.
