The department is a modern equipped workplace that performs a wide range of analyses, both routine and highly specialized, including molecular biological, toxicological analysis, and analysis within the therapeutic drug monitoring. The workplace includes an outpatient section and an interdisciplinary center (Osteocenter) providing care for patients with metabolic diseases of the skeleton.
The department is equipped with advanced technologies for the pre-analytical processing of samples, routine analysis, chromatographic techniques, and molecular biological techniques, including biochip technologies. More than 2.5 million analyses are performed annually in routine and special laboratories. The workplace introduces and conducts analyses for scientific research purposes and staff members publish their work regularly.
The department participates in the undergraduate education for master‘s and bachelor‘s degree programs at the Charles University Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové. The department is also accredited for postgraduate education in the field of clinical biochemistry and postgraduate attestation in clinical osteology. In addition, there is a subject area committee for clinical biochemistry in the doctoral study program. The department is involved in the accreditation process for clinical laboratories.
