Dr. Zuzana Bilkova graduated in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, began her academic career at the University of Pardubice in 1993. In 2000 she defended her thesis focused on separation methods such asimmunoaffinity chromatography,she received the Ph.D. in Analytical chemistry – Immunochemistry from Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice. In 1998 she joined the Department of Biological and Biochemical Sciences as a lecturer and in 2005 she became a head of department. In 2014, she was promoted to Professor of Clinical Immunology. Her current research interests include analytical and separation methods based on molecular recognition and modern superparamagnetic (nano)materialsused as a solid phase are combined with microfluidic systems and sensors. Her scientific expertise can be summarized: immunochemistry, bioaffinity chromatography, and structural analysis of clinically relevant biomarkers of autoimmune, neurodegenerative or cancer diseases.

In the period 2007 - 2010 the research group of Dr. Bilkova was the partner of the 6th FP EU project NeuroTAS:Developmentof “lab-on-chip” systemsforthe early diagnosisofneurodegenerativediseases.In the period 2008 – 2010 the research group of Dr. Bilkova was the partner of project CONTACT supported by Ministry of education AMVIS – Differential proteomic analysis of glyco- and phosphoproteins of bacteria Francisellatularensis. In the period 2009 – 2012 Dr. Bilkova has been the main coordinator of the project INCHEBIO, The innovation of special chemical and biological study programs of University of Pardubic.
In the period 2009 - 2012 the research group of Dr. Bilkova was the partner of 7th FP EU project CaMiNEMS: Integrated Micro-Nano-Opto Fluidic systems for high-content diagnosis and studies of rare cancer cells. FP7-NMP-2008-SMALL, main coordinator is Dr. Jean-Louis Viovy (France).
In the period 2009 - 2011 Dr. Bilkova has been the main coordinator of project supported by Czech Science Foundation GACR 203/09/0857: New analytical approaches for identification of proteins with significant attributes for virulence and pathogenicity of bacteria.
In the 2010 the 7th FP EU project NADINE: Nanosystems For The Early Diagnosis of Neurodegenerative Diseases.NaDiNe. FP7-NMP-2009-LARGE has started. The research group of Dr. Bilkova is a member of international research team. The maincoordinatoris Dr. JörgKötter (Denmark) and theresearchcoordinatoris Dr. Jean-Louis Viovy (France).
In the period 2012 - 2014 Dr. Bilkova will be the main coordinator of project supported by Czech Science Foundation GACR 206/12/0381, Development of ultrasensitive electrochemical immunosensors for an early detection of clinically significant biomarkers of malignant diseases.
In the period 2012 - 2015 the group of Dr. Bilkova will be the partner of the new project Molecular biotechnology school – Medical nanobiotechnology supported by European Structural Funds.
